This past weekend (Friday, February 14th-Sunday, February 16th) Dan and I flew to Seattle for the weekend! We planned an incredible trip with two of our best friends- Cam and Kelsey and their dog, Bauer. We met these three in Budapest, Hungary when we were living and teaching there. The four of us share so many similarities and became fast friends. For me, teaching in Budapest was one of the best years of my life for many reasons and our friends there were a huge part of that. It had been over a year and a half since we last saw Cam and Kelsey so we were DYING to see them. They are currently living in British Columbia, Canada so they drove down and we flew up and it was the perfect city for a quick weekend reunion.

Dan and I got to the airport just in time for a quick pre-flight drink. On Friday, February 14th we were celebrating 5 years together!

Landed in Seattle! We landed a little after 11pm and then made our way to the AirBnB!

We had the best night catching up with each other! Bauer remembered Dan and I and he chilled on the couch as the four of us chatted away until almost 5am!
We went to sleep and woke up the next morning (Saturday) ready to explore! This was our fifth country traveling and exploring all together. We planned to take the ferry to Bainbridge Island for the day. We got to the ferry a little early so were able to explore and take a look at some of the views.
Dan and I's friend, Kylie, is from Bainbridge so shoutout to them for helping us plan an epic day there! We started at Blakely Harbor State Park where we hiked the Fort Ward Trail. It was stunning and gave us the outdoor time we were craving. I was surprised to learn that Bainbridge is the birthplace of Pickleball! After the hike, we walked around the downtown area and got some dinner before taking the ferry back to Seattle.
On Sunday morning, we checked out of the AirBnB and drove over to Kerry Park. Kerry Park offers great skyline views of Seattle. I knew of Kerry Park from my first trip to Seattle in 2018. Also, if you are a Grey's Anatomy fan, Meredith Grey's house is located just a block away from the park so I was excited to check that out again!
We headed over to Pike Place Market! We explored, got food and drinks, and of course checked out the Gum Wall and added our own to it. After spending a couple hours there, we took a long walk over to the Space Needle and admired the views from the ground. Although it would have been cool to check out at the top, the cost of a ticket was around $45 which we found pretty costly.
The last thing we did before flying out of Seattle on Sunday night was check out the Central Saloon. This was on Dan's radar because the Central Saloon is Seattle's oldest saloon. It is also where many local bands get their start including Nirvana! They have a whole shrine devoted to Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Overall, it was a cool place for food and drinks and they even let Bauer in which is always a plus!
Overall, it was one of the best weekends I've had in so long. It was so hard to say goodbye to Kelsey, Cam, and Bauer but I know we will plan something soon. Thanks for reading! :)
