On Friday, February 21st, I took a half day off at work to fly home to Chicago to see my little sister, Lucy, perform at her annual orchesis show! Orchesis is the name of her dance performance team at Prospect High School. She is a senior this year and there was no way I was missing her final performances. I've been watching Lucy Lynn dance since she was a toddler. She's grown into the most beautiful dancer- both inside and out! I had been looking forward to this trip for weeks.

I got in around 12:30 am on Friday night (early Saturday morning). My mom, Kendall, and Wes picked me up at the airport. I was so happy to see the three of them! Kendall who is currently living in Wisconsin only got in a couple hours before I did and Wes who is studying at the University of Illinois got in a day before. We all could not wait to see our baby sister dance her heart out!

Kendall, Wes, Lucy, and I stayed up for a couple hours catching up. We hadn't been together (the four of us) in so long and this time together is so special. However, we were all exhausted and eventually fell fast asleep. The next morning, we woke up and had breakfast with our cousin and her husband, Shelby and Connor, before they drove back home to Wisconsin. Then, several of us headed over to Prospect to see Lucy's 1:30 pm orchesis show!
She danced and choreographed so many of the dances in the show. It was so magical to watch her shine on the stage. She has an amazing talent and I was mesmerized by her performances. My dad took part of the show as well since there is a father/daughter dance every year. He did great too!
Lucy has been apart of the orchesis dance team for the past four years! She made the team her freshman year and has been an integral part ever since. This year, she was a head choreographer and a student director!
Here are some pictures from over the course of the four performances this past weekend. She did so insanely well and we were all so proud of her! After the 1:30 pm show, we ran some errands and hung out at home before heading back to Prospect for her final performance at 6:30 pm.
There were so many amazing friends and family that came to cheer Lucy on! From my best friends Katy and Jenny to our family in Wisconsin, it was amazing to see everyone and support Lucy together.

On Sunday morning, my mom, Kendall, Lucy, and I went prom dress shopping for Lucy! She tried on many dresses and all of them looked gorgeous on her! We all fell in love with her ultimate choice. It was so special to be together and do this together.

My first flight back to Reno left at 5pm on Sunday evening so I said my goodbyes to my family which seemed harder than usual this time. I love them so much and although I love my life here in Reno, I wish we lived closer.

I'm so proud of you Lucy Lynn! It's been an honor to watch you dance your whole life. I cannot wait to see where college and beyond takes you. You have the brightest future ahead of you!
