The Final Stretch: Boston Training Update + How You Can Support

Tomorrow will be two weeks until the 2026 Boston Marathon! I can't believe that it's almost here. It hasn't been an easy training block. Between coming down with bronchitis in February and dealing with a knee injury right now, I've been tested both mentally and physically. This is the third marathon I've trained for and I've learned that it is more important than ever to listen to my body and give it what it needs.

Additionally, this training and race has been so much more than just running 26.2 miles.
This year, I'm running the Boston Marathon while fundraising for the Victoria McGrath Foundation. This has added a whole new level of purpose to every mile. Knowing that each run is connected to something so much bigger than myself is very motivating.
The funds we raise go directly to two organizations doing powerful, life-changing work for individuals with disabilities: Joni and Friends and Cape Abilities.
Joni and Friends provides global programs that support people living with disabilities through resources, community outreach, family support, and inclusive opportunities- helping individuals and families feel seen, valued, and empowered.
Cape Abilities focuses on creating meaningful employment opportunities, housing, and community engagement for individuals with disabilities- helping people lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
As a first grade teacher, this cause resonates deeply with me. I work with a diverse group of students every day, including several with disabilities, and I see so much of them reflected in the individuals these organizations support. Every child deserves opportunities, support, and a community that believes in them and I hope that through efforts like this more individuals including my own students can access these kinds of opportunities.
I'm so thankful for everyone's support so far! Any sort of support makes a huge difference. Whether you've donated, shared my page, sent encouragement, or simply followed along- I am forever grateful. Here's a link to my updated Supporter Wall.
As race day draws closer, I'm still working on my fundraising goal of $8,000. I'm about $4,500 of the way. If you've been thinking about donating or sharing, now is such a meaningful time. Any amount- no matter how big or small- makes a huge impact.
Here are some ways to help!
